AFFR History

The Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam (AFFR) was established in 2000, and the foundation organized its festival the same year as the first architecture film festival in the world. Festivals also took place again in 2001 and 2003. In 2007 AFFR made a fresh start after a few years of silence. In 2009 the event expanded significantly in terms of visitor numbers and programming.

Niels Posthumus

Niels Posthumus

Niels Posthumus (1981) has been working as a foreign correspondent in South Africa since 2012. Based in Johannesburg, he writes for two Dutch newspapers: Trouw and Het Financieele Dagblad. In 2008 he worked as a local reporter for the South African newspaper The Star. In 2017 he published the book Liefde’s verdriet. Liefde, relaties en seks in het Zuid-Afrika van na de apartheid. In this book, he looks into the ways that the history of apartheid still influences interpersonal relations in modern day South Africa. Liefde’s verdriet was nominated for the Brusseprijs, the Dutch prize for the best journalistic book of the year. Niels is currently working on a book about the Dutch colonial influence on South Africa.
