
Floris Alkemade is an architect and urban designer. After studying at TU Delft, he worked at OMA where he was one of six partners. In 2008, he founded his own design firm FAA and later BAU+ operating from Sint-Oedenrode, Brussels and Paris. From 2015 to 2021, he held the position of Chief Government Architect. He combines his work as an architect and urban designer with teaching, lecturing and he serves on various professional juries. Alkemade has several publications to his name, including the essay The Future of the Netherlands subtitled The Art of Changing Direction. On 18 July 2021, he was a guest on VPRO’s Zomergasten (Summer guests). As his main film, he chose Andrei Tarkovsky’s Stalker, a film which, he revealed, he watches several times a year.
