Faye Ellen (1985) is owner and founding partner at Arttenders. Faye grew up in her parents’ art gallery in Den Helder (NL) developing a strong affection, and knowledge, of the art world at an early age, organizing her first exhibition at just 12 years old. Ever since then she has wondered why the value of applied art continues to be overlooked in designing liveable spaces with a sense of belonging, so she decided to start practicing what she preached. Her personal and company’s mission is to create socially sustainable spaces in the public realm using social design, co-creation and applied art as her tools to connect hard-, soft- and orgware in an integral process resulting in future proof public spaces that facilitate the community. She has over 15 years of experience creating places that have intrinsic value to the community while also becoming interesting destinations for others. She is skilled in bridging the corporate and the creative worlds, and has a lot of experience in making impossible projects happen. At 27 she was senior project manager on the 11.000m2 artwork by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam in the Markthal Rotterdam; At 30 she started Arttenders with co-founder Siobhan Burger. Ever since founding Arttenders, Faye has been focusing on large scale developments with complex stakeholder relations reclaiming the public space for the community one inch at a time.
