AFFR History

The Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam (AFFR) was established in 2000, and the foundation organized its festival the same year as the first architecture film festival in the world. Festivals also took place again in 2001 and 2003. In 2007 AFFR made a fresh start after a few years of silence. In 2009 the event expanded significantly in terms of visitor numbers and programming.

Anne Geenen

Anne Geenen, together with David Schimdt, is one of the founders of Site Practice, an architecture and design studio based in Amsterdam and Mumbai. The studio approaches each project by committing to a collaborative design process engaging with makers and users from various backgrounds and disciplines. By engaging with the process of making and construction they explore material, cultural and ecological conditions, creating places and objects that have a strong emphasis on detail and become moments of quality in our daily lives. Current projects include an urban redevelopment in Neuperlach, Munich, elderly and starter homes in the North of Holland, a fashion campus in Kenya, prefab affordable housing in the Himalayas and several interior and furniture projects.

Prior to establishing Site Practice Anne was partner at Case Design and co-founder of the furniture brand Casegoods. She has worked on projects ranging from educational institutes to residential interiors. Anne graduated with honours from the University of Technology in Delft and gained professional experience at Studio Mumbai, B.V. Doshi and David Chipperfield Architects Berlin. She has taught at Parsons, Indian School for Design and Innovation in Mumbai and Delft University of Technology
