Reaching for the sky

Watch film

Dutch architects Mark Hemel and his wife Barbara Kuit won the architecture competition to design the highest television tower in the world in Guangzhou, China. It’s their first assignment after having participated in several prestigious design contests and their dream to build an icon becomes reality. This tower will be their calling card, paving the way for a move to China, one of the few places where there still is room for extraordinary ideas. But problems arise as soon as the foundations are being laid.
Reaching for the Sky portrays the personal and professional dilemmas of the young architects in a candid manner; architects who seem to have achieved their biggest ambitions at the outset of their carriers.
