As part of his pursuit of happiness for the workers, Michel de Klerk designed the Ship for the Eigen Haard housing association. Social housing in a flamboyant expressionist style to celebrate the workers.
The design from 1917 was recently completely renovated – a complicated undertaking which is documented in this film. How could the beauty of the original design be restored to its former glory? And how could the changes made in the previous renovation from the 1980s be reversed? The film shows the complex operation, slowly enticing the viewer into falling completely in love with the Ship.
