AFFR History

The Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam (AFFR) was established in 2000, and the foundation organized its festival the same year as the first architecture film festival in the world. Festivals also took place again in 2001 and 2003. In 2007 AFFR made a fresh start after a few years of silence. In 2009 the event expanded significantly in terms of visitor numbers and programming.

Tip from the Financieel Dagblad: Good Life, today 13:15

When communal living is co-opted to serve corporate culture, what kind of communities do we end up with? Go behind the scenes of a start-up that wants to blur the lines between leisure/labour and privacy/community.

Tip from the Financieel Dagblad: Good Life, today 13:15

Welcome to Tech Farm, a Swedish co-living start-up that wants to blur the lines between leisure and labour. Its tenants are young, would-be entrepreneurs who are willing to devote every minute of their lives to achieve financial success. Eschewing privacy and comfort, they surround themselves with equally driven individuals, forming a neoliberal commune where everyone thinks alike. Sleeping in pods, brainstorming in the sauna, their entire existence revolves around their entrepreneurial ideology. With a gently critical approach, filmmakers Marta Dauliute and Viktorija Šiaulyte allow the tenants and the people behind the start-up to speak for themselves. They couch their words in once radical rhetoric of community and social justice. As they confuse their entrapment in the rat race with liberty, we are confronted with the way our own lives and spatial environments have been undermined by capitalism.
