AFFR History

The Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam (AFFR) was established in 2000, and the foundation organized its festival the same year as the first architecture film festival in the world. Festivals also took place again in 2001 and 2003. In 2007 AFFR made a fresh start after a few years of silence. In 2009 the event expanded significantly in terms of visitor numbers and programming.

Thanks for visiting AFFR 2021

The thirteenth Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam concluded in LantarenVenster with a sunny day full of great films, conversations and debates. We look back on a very successful festival.

Thanks for visiting AFFR 2021

Thanks to the recent relaxation of corona measures, we were able to receive rooms full of lovers of film, city and architecture again. This was much appreciated by a large and enthusiastic audience. With great pleasure we have again received many guests from home and abroad. The discussions around the theme More Than Houses were lively and relevant. The films were of exceptionally high quality, as evidenced by the great appreciation by our audience.

We thank all visitors, volunteers, guests, filmmakers, sponsors, partners and funds for their contribution to and presence at this memorable film festival after a year and a half of pandemic.

We hope to see everyone healthy and well during the fourteenth AFFR: 5 to 9 October 2022!
