AFFR x RA Month: Wall-E

Sunday 21 Jun 2026 | 14:00
Location: Keilepand M4H, Rotterdam

What would the future look like without circularity? Find out in Wall-E, Pixar’s Oscar-winning animated film. This children’s classic, about the cleaning robot of the same name, is back on the big screen for one time only – a must-see for film fans, parents, children and anyone involved in shaping the world around us.

About the film

Wall-E, Andrew Stanton
2008 | USA | 98’

The year is 2805, planet Earth has been abandoned. Carefully arranged blocks of debris rise like apartment blocks from the mist. This is the world of the clean-up robot Wall-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter, Earth-Class). Diligently, he piles up humanity’s rubbish and cherishes the treasures of human culture he finds.

Wall-E is a highlight of Pixar’s computer animation, with a simple story but profound meaning. Largely without dialogue, the film shows how humanity has been brought down by its consumerist drive and has become entirely dependent on technology. But hope is not yet lost. The ultra-modern robot EVE, Wall-E’s great love, discovers a tiny plant in his collection. Nature offers a second chance.

How we deal with our waste is central to this story of redemption, making Wall-E the ultimate manifesto for the circular city. But Wall-E is also a film that ensures you leave the cinema with a smile on your face and a feeling of hope. In short: a must-see for young and old alike!
