AFFR History

The Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam (AFFR) was established in 2000, and the foundation organized its festival the same year as the first architecture film festival in the world. Festivals also took place again in 2001 and 2003. In 2007 AFFR made a fresh start after a few years of silence. In 2009 the event expanded significantly in terms of visitor numbers and programming.

On Sunday 11 October, AFFR presents the world premiere of babel by LOD Muziektheater and theater maker and architect Steve Salembier. The premiere will take place at Conny Janssen Danst studio at Fenixloods I.

Musical theatre as a filmic portrait of the city, by architect and theatre maker Steve Salembier (Atelier Bildraum) in collaboration with LOD Muziektheater from Ghent. The all-embracing city, where the temporary is permanent, where the journey is the destination, and where metro lines, escalators and lifts constitute rituals. With models, photography, video and projections, Salembier shows how relations between people and their surroundings have fundamentally altered. World premiere at the studio of Conny Janssen Danst in Fenixloods I.
