Vostok N°20 is a magical documentary about daily life in the train carriage of the same name on the Tran-Siberian Express. Passengers spend five says and six nights of endless boredom confined to small spaces with few modern conveniences as travel through breathtaking landscapes. Yet it’s the unexpected encounters that linger in the memory. Elisabeth Silveiro’s stunningly beautiful film is an existential meditation about life and the passing landscape. How ‘lost in transition’ can a person be?
