TXL Berlin Tegel Airport

TXL Berlin Tegel Airport

In 1965 three newly graduated German architects won an international competition for the new Tegel Airport in Berlin with a surprising design. Their fame was established. Their futuristic building, with octagonal shapes that ensured the shortest routes between arrival and airplane, was for decades the blueprint for new airports worldwide. In 2020 Tegel TXL made way for the new Willy Brandt Airport. A colourful look back at a time before ‘flying shame’ or terrorism, which made airport design a much more innocent affair.
