The sound that remains
The Children’s Maritime Health Resort of Military Insured Persons in Krvavica, Croatia, was designed by Richard Marasović and completed in 1964. Managed by the military, the resort was inaccessible to the local population and unknown even to local architects. During the Yugoslav wars it functioned as a refugee centre, and since then it has been left to deteriorate. In this mesmerizing and multi-layered sonic portrait, director Jose Joaquin Mora combines the contemporary sounds of the abandoned building with a staged on-site performance by the local female choir Tempet to recall the history of the building.
