The Promise – Architect BV Doshi

Balkrishna Doshi worked together with the famous architects Louis Kahn and Le Corbusier, but he developed a unique modern Indian design language of his own. That enabled him to make an important contribution to Indian self-awareness in post-colonial India after 1948. In this beautiful film, Doshi, who passed away last year, revisits his most fascinating projects one last time. He travels to Indore and Bangalore, taking in not only housing schemes and cultural buildings but also temples and mosques. India became the world’s most populated country in 2023. A vast land full of contradictions, where the remarkable architecture of Doshi has influenced generations of Indian and western architects.
