In 1960s Florence, the father of filmmaker Elettra Fiumi, Fabrizio Fiumi, founded the radical design group 9999, whose activities centred on architectural experiments, utopian ideas, theatre and music. They stretched the limits of architecture and posed questions about our relation with one another and with nature. 9999’s experimental Space Electronic Nightclub attracted musicians and theatre makers from all over the world. The deployment of film in performances and presentations was also new. In Radical Landscape, Fiumi searches for traces of her father. Drawing from his vast film archive, she paints a picture of a fascinating, cheerful, optimistic, radical, critical and, in all respects, exemplary era.
