Palestinian artist Emily Jacir witnesses the resistance of her fellow Palestinians almost every day from her parental home in Bethlehem. At the end of her street the Israelis have erected the controversial West Bank separation barrier. On the hill she can see the lights of the constantly growing Israeli settlements. letter to a friend is a personal art project that sheds fascinating light on the everyday reality of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. With the help of archival images and maps, she offers a clear overview of the geographical impact of the Israeli barrier and the settlements on Palestine. An urgent portrait of a simple life that takes its course, despite the enormous pressure of absurd political circumstances.
