AFFR History

The Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam (AFFR) was established in 2000, and the foundation organized its festival the same year as the first architecture film festival in the world. Festivals also took place again in 2001 and 2003. In 2007 AFFR made a fresh start after a few years of silence. In 2009 the event expanded significantly in terms of visitor numbers and programming.

Ladies Only

For women, public space in India often feels threatening and unsafe. To provide protection from groping men, trains have separate compartments for females. While the crammed trains hurtle along, women talk surprisingly openly about their lives and future perspectives in this safe contested space. Ladies Only is a disconcerting account of an ultra-conservative, male-dominated, segregated society. Despite all their ordeals, the optimism of these women offers hope for the future.
