I am Gentrification is the infectious life story of the Swiss journalist Thomas Haemmerli, in which he asks if he is the cause of gentrification or just benefits from it. Haemmerli begins his self-deprecating story as a non-conformist free spirit who opposes the ruling class and ends as an upright father of two children in a luxury apartment in Zurich. An entertaining story about the complexity of gentrification in which nothing is spared.

Lost in Transition Debate on Thursday 10 October
The Lost in Transition debate will take place prior to the screening of I am Gentrification: Confessions of a Scoundrel on Thursday 10 October. Moderated by Saskia van Stein, the session will explore the way that architecture can deal with issues arising from a world in flux. How do increased migration, inequality and climate change affect our built environment? With the pressure of all these forces, the time has come to address these problems head-on and create positive as well as structural change. A conversation with Derk Loorbach (DRIFT), Eva Pfannes (OOZE), Nanne De Ru (Powerhouse Company) and Thomas Haemmerli, director of I Am Gentrification.
