Lush film featuring gorgeous archival footage about a building that witnessed all the huge transformations that washed over the former country of Yugoslavia: Hotel Jugoslavija. Built in 1969 as a prestigious edifice in Soviet Modernist style, it offered a venue where government officials, dictators and shady businessmen could rub shoulders, surrounded by pretty ladies and obsequious vassals. It was a symbol of power that ultimately became a target for the people’s rage. Filmmaker Nicolas Wagnières depicts a beautifully told personal story that engages his own memories in Belgrade.
