AFFR History

The Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam (AFFR) was established in 2000, and the foundation organized its festival the same year as the first architecture film festival in the world. Festivals also took place again in 2001 and 2003. In 2007 AFFR made a fresh start after a few years of silence. In 2009 the event expanded significantly in terms of visitor numbers and programming.

Building Visions

Building Visions

City and nature are sometimes seen as each other’s opposites. In this documentary, design office De Urbanisten and experts from the Natural History Museum Rotterdam and Bureau Stadsnatuur offer another perspective: the city as a natural habitat for flora and fauna. Taking the examples of a number of projects completed by De Urbanisten – among them the Water Square, the Sponge Garden and urban nature at the Natural History Museum Rotterdam – they show how well the city and nature can work together. They offer valuable insights, strategies and concrete proposals for how a city like Rotterdam can embrace climate change.
