Their Eyes

A biting satire about gentrification and the housing crisis. During a team-building trip to a suburban neighbourhood, the head of an architecture firm is forced to confront the real-world impact of his designs. 

Assad’s regime had ambitious plans for a new district in Damascus: Marota City. For this, the Basateen al-Razi district was completely demolished. As a form of resistance, Marota City is now being reconstructed in 3D, to protest against it in the virtual world.

In a remote forest in Germany stands a strange village, not inhabited by people but by mannequins. Tin City is a secret training ground built for British soldiers in Northern Ireland, a macabre place full of echoes of the present.

Recreating the visual language of mid-century newsreels with AI generated images, the film presents Warsaw as a city whose identity is constantly reconstructed as a simulation layered over ruins. History, destruction, myth and ideology blur into a palimpsest of eternal reinvention. 

The coffee machine in the kitchen, the ticking clock in the living room, the lift in the hallway – these are the sounds in the life of an 85-year-old. A portrait of loneliness captured through sound.

An elderly man in Palestine tries to keep the wall in front of his house as tidy as possible. Again and again, graffiti appears on it. Each time, he paints over it until he realizes something: the wall is a means of communication for the neighbourhood.
