Kontinental ’25
Radu Jude | 2025 | Romania | 109’
About the film
A homeless man is evicted from a building by bailiff Orsolya and takes his own life in despair. Orsolya feels complicit and cannot live with the guilt. She falls into a moral crisis she is determined to escape and, while struggling, desperately seeks advice from friends, lovers and other acquaintances. Each conversation reveals a different layer in the psyche of contemporary Romanian society. But the film is more than the portrait of a person or a country: Kontinental ’25 can be read as a black comedy about the human condition in the neo-liberal era.
