Futuristic Alphaville (or Paris, that has been succesfully transformed to a strange cityscape) is a city where technology has surpressed every human element. The people live their days as unsensitive robots. Eddie Constantine plays the private eye Lemmy Cation, a french answer to Humphrey Bogart. This time his assignment is to pursuade the dictator-scientist von Braun to leave Alphaville or if he refuses, to shoot him. The daughter of the man is intrigued by Cation and decides to help him.
